5 intense days cycling through the Alentejo countryside to the top of the Algarve Mountain – Fóia.
Cycling is always an excellent choice to travel. Along the road you will feel the sweet aroma of rosemary, discover the secrets that the low Alentejo, Alentejo’s Coast and the Algarve mountains hide, enjoy breathtaking landscapes, discover the hosting spirit of the Portuguese villages and after going up and up through the Algarve’s Mountain, you will be able to enjoy the extraordinary panoramic view of the Algarve coast in its extension.
Fill in the form to discover the southwest of Portugal, a surprising destination yet to be discovered.
BTP, helped us customize a trip with our friends and family that was fit for kings! The lodging, food, service and the beautiful bikes were the best we have come across in Europe. Thank you Ricardo, et al, we will for sure be returning.
"We are experienced cyclists who have cycled in many countries with many bike tour companies. None is better than Bike Tours Portugal. Our idyllic Portuguese bike journey covered about 500 kilometers (300 miles) over 7 days from Marvao near the Spanish border until almost the Atlantic Ocean (near Vila de Nova Milfontes). The tour Bike Portugal designed for us took us mostly on serene backroads through cork forests, olive groves and hilltop towns. Our trip was self-guided with support. Our support guide, José, was exceptional -- friendly, knowledgable, efficient and always available. We are particular about our bikes, and the bikes provided were superb carbon fiber bikes with Ultegra components (Trek Emondas) The routes we were given were brilliantly chosen, the accommodations provided were spectacular -- frequently historic refurbished buildings like convents or family wine estates set amidst scenic vineyards. The food in our accommodations was similarly excellent and the fabulous Portuguese wines that accompanied the meals -- previously unknown to us -- were an astonishing surprise. In sum, this was a trip to remember. We would recommend Bike Tours Portugal to anyone with our highest -- and very selective --recommendation. Every person with whom we dealt at Bike Tours Portugal was incredibly warm, customer friendly, and supremely efficient. Do not miss a bike trip with them in Portugal!!"
"The professionalism and hospitality was top-notch. Delicious dinners, fabulous accommodations, to the first-rate equipment and well thought out itineraries, we had an incredible trip!"
This October we had one of the best vacations we ever had. Bike Tours Portugal did a fantastic job making this possible. It started before the trip as we negotiated with Joana the trip and how hard we wanted the biking routes to be. She was very responsive and helped us make the right decisions. We wanted a self-guided tour to be have more independency. We decided for about 300Km over 4 days in the Alentejo.
We arrived in Lisbon and Vitor, one of their pro-riders, picked us up in the airport. He was our support during the entire trip. He is a super nice guy and chatting with him was always fun. One afternoon he even showed up and rode with us the last 10Km of the day.
We rode through vineyards, olive and cork tree farms. One of the most amazing experience was to stop in these small villages, all sweaty, looking for water and ice-cream (unusually warm October) and interacting with people. What an incredibly nice people are the Portuguese!
The selection of hotels was excellent. We stayed in two vineyards (with Herdade do Sobroso being the highlight) and the hotel in Evora had a view of the Roman aqueduct.
Having selected a longer route had one clear advantage. One breakfast I ate 10 pasteis de nata (small puff pastries with sweet custard; believe me there is nothing better with coffee) without guilt.
Now only one task ahead: When to do it again!
My husband and I and our daughter in law, recently did a self guided bike tour with Luxury on Two Wheels. Our trip took us from Sesimbra , south to Sagres. The terrain was partly off road and along quiet country roads. The scenery was stunning, particularly along the coast with cliffs and white sandy beaches. We also cycled through cork tree forests and national parks. On three of the nights we stayed in relatively remote accommodations in National Parks. We really enjoyed them. They were unique, beautiful, and had all the amenities you could wish for.
Even though, we were on a self guided tour, we were very well looked after. We were in contact with Ricardo at all times.
He offered and provided ebikes for us parents on the last day of the trip when we asked if he had any in his fleet.
Incidentally, they can provide whatever kind of bike you like. Even duplicate the bike you have at home.
All in all, we were very happy and would highly recommend them.
A family from Whistler
I am just back from the trip to Alentejo Wine Country Tour and all I can say is wow!!! I must admit I was nervous booking with a company in Europe but the reviews I saw were good. The tour really is luxury and every aspect was done so well. We stayed in great accommodations every day. Our meals were consistently delicious. Andre our chef went out of his way to provide exquisite meals every day. We had fantastic wine tasting daily. The trip was such a great value for all that you get. This company is great. I plan on going again soon.
BTP accommodated us First Class from start to finish. As unseasoned cyclists, they provided us with a comfort level from first contact with them by email as they addressed all questions and concerns we had. All overnight accommodations were fantastic whether luxury hotels or family owned inns. In all cases amazing food, friendly staff,...
It was our first time with BTP after many bike trips with other companies in other countries. The experience was outstanding. The attention received since the first moment was remarkable. We did the Coast trip.
You and Guilherme are superb Ambassadors of your beautiful country. Portugal will no longer be just a name on a map to us. We are forever connected to this very special place that we hope to return to again and again.
